How do I apply for an Undergraduate Course?
When does UCAS open?
UCAS is open at any point during the year – however, there are deadlines that you need to make an application by. Check out this link for the key dates!
What if I don’t meet the entry requirements?
First of all, don’t worry! You can still go through clearing and make an application to University that way. There’s also no harm in waiting a year before you go to University if you wanted to re-sit some exams. Click here for more advice
Do I have to live away from home?
Not if you don’t want to! It’s entirely up to you if you want to live away from home, and if you’re more comfortable staying at home, that’s absolutely fine!
Do I have to pay the course fees right away?
No! You need to make an application to Student Finance England for your tuition fee loan, and this will pay for your course fees. You can also apply for a maintenance loan. Have a look at this handy calculator that will work out how much money you can get in a maintenance loan. You also don’t have to repay any of the money until after you’ve graduated, and are earning a certain amount per year. You can also receive extra money for the University itself! For more information about this, have a look at our funding guide here!
Can I change my course?
Absolutely! If you feel like the course you’re studying isn’t the right fit for you, you can contact our Student Help desk to speak about your options. It’s also worth speaking to your Course Leader and get some advice from them.
Is there any information I can give my parents?
In the lead up to going to University, your parents will understandably have a lot of questions about it all. To help them understand the process a little better, we’ve created a parents guide to all things University, which will be coming soon. In the meantime, they can have a look here!
